FECAMDS AAU: TOUCHING LIVES, CHANGING LIVES.
A little bit of love, a little of light and a little bit of healing, all in one weekend.
The Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students, A.A.U chapter during the weekend
organized and carried out a free medical outreach/evangelism in Urohi. Urohi is a small,
peaceful town, a few miles from Uhiele, Ekpoma, Edo State.
The event, which began on Saturday with the arrival of Medical students from Ekpoma and Irrua, was a perfect opportunity to foster unity, preach the gospel and bring good healthcare
closer to the inhabitants. By the evening of Saturday, the young medics were already out
carrying out the initial sensitization, invitation and evangelism; they visited many areas and met
with interesting persons.
The outreach started the next day with a mass that was presided over by the lovely host, Father
Kelvin Anetor in St. Patrick's catholic, Urohi. All the medical students and doctors (from Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, ISTH) were in attendance.
Afterward, everyone moved to the outreach venue; community members and persons from neighboring towns were already on the ground, waiting eagerly for the free Medical services. Many doctors (patrons of the association and non-patrons alike) were on the ground to ensure all persons were attended to; free medical checkups, consultation and drugs were given.
The event also afforded the Doctors and Medical students opportunities to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ; "love your maker and your neighbor, and don't lose hope, God's not dead." Gifts were shared at the end to some of the villagers, courtesy of the Doctors, marking the end of an amazing event.
This outreach afforded members of the Fecamds family the opportunity to interact with each other, which will foster love and unity and sharpen the vision of the amazing future doctors. A big thank you to Fr. Kelvin (Kay) Anetor and the parishioners of St. Patrick's, Urohi, for their hospitality, to the Patrons and Doctors for their ever-present amazing support and the members of Fecamds, A.A.U.
